Trichology Certification Program
Become a Certified Trichologist: Your Career Starts Here
The International Association of Trichologists offers a comprehensive certification program designed for those passionate about hair and scalp health. Developed in collaboration with medical professionals at the University of Southern California, the course covers a wide range of topics including hair loss, scalp disorders, structure and function of the hair, and treatment protocols. The curriculum consists of detailed modules, expert-led lectures, case studies, and photographic examples to help students gain a deep understanding of trichological science.
The program typically takes between 12 and 18 months to complete, depending on the student’s schedule and pace. It is delivered via distance education, allowing students from around the world to study at their convenience. After completing the written coursework, students must undertake a practical clinical training module with an IAT-approved trichologist to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.

Anyone with a strong interest in hair and scalp health may apply — whether you’re a cosmetologist, medical professional, naturopath, or someone entering the field for the first time. No prior medical degree is required, but a commitment to learning and professionalism is essential. The course is structured to support both newcomers and experienced professionals seeking formal certification.
The program is administered by IAT Director David Salinger, along with a team of respected trichologists and medical educators. With decades of experience and global recognition, our instructors bring both scientific rigor and practical insight to the learning process. Graduates of the program receive the title of Certified Trichologist and gain membership to the International Association of Trichologists — opening doors to a worldwide network of experts and continuing education.
